HERBOLOGY

Visual art, as well as folk-medicine, is to restore and maintain the spirit and the body. We erect monuments to victims and heroes of historic battles; we should also revere their spiritual and corporal health: for example, set up monuments to great works of art or traditional cures.

In this project I superimpose images of the herbs used in Tibetan medicine on the plaques with images of victories and battles. Medical cures enter the context of the initial image and readdress its pathos bringing the theme of hero herbs into the foreground.
